Located in the Nghe An Province, which is the largest one in Vietnam, Kim Lien is about 10 miles west of the provincial capital of Vinh. This small village boasts a few museums and monuments all dedicated to Ho Chi Minh as the village was Uncle Ho’s second home during his youth.

Do not expect any great tourist attractions in Kim Lien or English speaking bars and restaurants, but you can enjoy the Vietnamese paying homage to their once great leader by lighting incense around the home he lived in and laying bouquets of flowers to the rear of the courtyard. The courtyard building displays photos of Ho Chi Minh’s life.

You can purchase all things related to Ho Chi Minh in Kim Lien, from t-shirts with Uncle Ho’s face to statues. Flowers can be purchased from the museum entrance should you wish to pay your respects to the former leader. Walking around the sites is easy with no great distances involved or you can rent bikes or even hire a local to take you to the different attractions.
