Vinh Travel Guide

Vinh is a city in Nghe An Province, Vietnam, and it has a western feel to it that lures people into staying longer than they originally intended. Unlike many Vietnamese cities, there are many bars and restaurants with English speaking staff and a nice array of places to stay.

Vinh has successfully kept an old charm with its broad streets and lofty buildings. At night-time, the community spills out onto the streets and merges in Ho Chi Minh Square to sip coffee and drink beer while chatting among themselves in one of the many cafés in Vinh.

With its ideal location between Hue and Hanoi, Vinh is a good place to break the long journey up between these cities. The city is looking to get away from the concrete jungle that it has portrayed for 30 years by planting new trees that line the roads and by edging the lakes with greenery.

Getting There & Away

Vinh has its own airport that serves domestic destinations only. Hanoi hosts the nearest international airport, which is a popular route in and out of the country. Vinh also has a train and bus station which runs daily services to and from major destinations in Vietnam. Buses from Danang take 8 hours, 30 minutes while trains from Hanoi take anywhere between 5 hours, 30 minutes and 8 hours.
