Situated in the northeast of Vietnam, Thai Nguyen is a picturesque area surrounded by mountains and lush forests. This is a great area to explore for those who enjoy hiking.

Getting to Thai Nguyen is easy as it is located just 80kms from Hanoi and linked by National Highway and a rail service. There are a number of mountain ranges running through the province from south to north which are made up of decayed rocks and those who choose to explore this region will discover several caves and valleys.

Many visitors to Vietnam find that it can be rather intense and overwhelming at times. However, Thai Nguyen is quite the opposite and this is a great place to relax and unwind. Hire a boat and explore Nui Coc Lake with its dozens of pretty islands or simply sit and watch the world go by.

A great time to visit Thai Nguyen is during one of its vibrant local festivals such as the Duom Temple Festival or the Hich Festival. Both these festivals are accompanied by much singing and dancing and feature parades through the streets.

Getting There & Away

The nearest airport is at Hanoi, which is 2 hours away by bus. The most scenic way to reach Thai Nguyen is by taking a train to Quan Trieu (2 hours) and then taking a bus into the city center (10 minutes).
