Taytay is a busy port town in Palawan Province, Philippines. It is home to a number of historic buildings and is a good base for exploring nearby islands.
Taytay is the main jump off point for islands in the Sulu Sea and while most people only stay here for a couple of nights, the beaches are inviting and the sights are fascinating.
There is good tourist infrastructure, with restaurants, bars and hotels being found in abundance. The town has a long and detailed history and during Spanish rule, it was the capital of the province and a popular getaway for the Spanish rulers.
Getting There & Away
Taytay has its own airport, which has limited flights to other destinations in the Philippines. It receives thrice-weekly flights from Manila and also from Puerto Princesa in Palawan (40 minutes). There are buses to Taytay from Puerto Princesa (6 to 8 hours). Boat trips to and from the islands that dot the coastline leave every day, although you will have to reach the pier early to get a space onboard.
