South Palawan Travel Guide

South Palawan is the quieter, less visited part of the island province of Palawan in the western Philippines. It is one of lovely beaches and islands and has one or two renowned attractions.

Major destinations in South Palawan include Balabac Island in the south, Brooke’s Point in the east, and Quezon in the west. The main pastimes in South Palawan are scuba diving and island hopping, while lazing on beaches is also a good activity here.

Tubbataha Reef Marine Park is one of the highlights of this part of Palawan, with its islands and abundance of wildlife. It is just southeast of Puerto Princesa and one of the best diving areas in the region.

Visitors will also find plenty of other water sports action in the main resorts and islands of South Palawan, while caves are all about. The ancient Tabon Caves of South Palawan are another major sight and they possess great caverns, rock formations and lots of archaeological digs.

Getting There & Away

Puerto Princesa Airport is the main gateway to South Palawan, receiving daily flights from Manila in an hour as well as flights from other major Filipino centers. High-speed ferries also come in from Manila in 13 hours and run to destinations all around South Palawan.
