Malaysia’s second largest fresh water lake covers a spacious 12,565-acre area and is located close to Pahang River in the central region of the state of Pahang.
Tasik Chini’s entire area is comprised of a series of 12 smaller lakes, each with its own name. Of these 12, the Chini is the only one with a mouth into the nearby Pahang River. Previously during the dry season, the lake had a tendency to lose depth but the damming of the river has now solved this problem.
The lake has its own unique eco-system that supports a diverse range of flora and fauna including 138 species of plant, 144 species of freshwater fish and 300 species of land-based creatures.
During lotus season between August and September the lake is covered in a thick carpet of thousands of white and pink lotus flowers but there are thousands of different plant and animal species living in and around the lake that can be appreciated year round.
