Lying just off the southeast coast of peninsular Malaysia in Johor Province, the Seribuat Archipelago is one of the country’s most picturesque regions, featuring dozens of delectable islands such as Tiomen Island.

The eastern part of Malaysia is less visited than that of the west and the beaches here are thus far less crowded than those of Penang and Langkawi. Tiomen Island is the largest island of the Seribuat Archipelago and the main attraction here, with fine beaches and a lush jungle-clad interior.

Snorkeling and diving are the main activities in the Seribuat Archipelago, with Tiomen Island offering the best of it. The other islands also offer great diving and are even more unspoiled than Tiomen Island.

Getting There & Away

Ferry is the chief form of transport to the Seribuat Archipelago, with regular sailings coming in from Mersing and taking around 2 hours. Buses run to Mersing from Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Singapore throughout the day. The nearest major airport to the Seribuat Archipelago is Singapore’s Changi International Airport, about 4 hours from Mersing.
