Samut Prakan is a tiny central Thai province whose eastern area is part of the Bangkok metropolis. The province is divided into two parts by the Chao Phraya river. West of the river comprises mainly rice and prawn fields, while the eastern areas are generally industrial. The province’s southern costal area is where the Chao Phraya meets the Gulf of Thailand.
Tourists staying in Bangkok often venture to Samut Prakan’s tourist attractions, including the Bang Pu Nature Reserve, home to a massive bird population, and the Erawan Museum which houses various items of cultural heritage.
