Quang Ngai is the capital of the province by the same name and gives the impression that you are entering a big city but it is actually more the size of a town.

Quang Ngai is nestled ten miles inland and was once the place to visit and pay homage to the site of the My Lai Massacre. Most trips now leave from more built up established cities such as Hoi An where there is more to do and see.

The area saw a rebellion against the French and Japanese in 1945 and during the Vietnam War and was witness to one of the worst slaughters in history with a reported 504 innocent people killed from one village.

Getting There & Away

The Reunification Express Train stops in Quang Ngai and it welcomes services from all around the country. Hanoi is 650 miles from Quang Ngai and takes about 14 hours. There is a bus station that also serves all major destinations in Vietnam. Danang International Airport to the north is the nearest international airport and handles most of the flights in and out of Vietnam and is three hour drive from Quang Ngai.
