Quang Nam Province Travel Guide

Quang Nam sits on the south central coast of the country, boasting two UNESCO World Heritage sites: Hoi An and My Son temple complex. Tam Ky, formerly known as Quang Nam Danang, is the provincial capital. Sandwiched between the Central Highlands, Laos and Thua Thien, Hue and Danang, Tam Ky is a stop-off point to explore other destinations.

Tam Ky is home to fascinating Cham ruins, located at My Son holy land and sanctuary, and the remarkable Chuc Thanh pagoda. There are several ancient houses made from jackfruit wood to admire around the city.

The more popular destination is the ancient town of Hoi An, another World Heritage site. This well-preserved ancient town dates to between the 15th and the 19th centuries when it was a major trading port in Southeast Asia.

Quang Nam is also home to 120kms (74 miles) of coastline from Dien Ngoc to Dung Quat, featuring many wonderful, unspoiled beaches. Some of the notable beaches include: Cua Dai, Binh Minh and Dien Duong while the island of Cham as well as the rivers of Thu Bon and Truong Giang are also tourist magnets.

Quang Nam, thanks to its location in the central part of Vietnam, boasts excellent transportation. The province is situated on national highway 1 and is easily accessible from anywhere in the country. Trains and buses leave from major cities to Quang Nam regularly.
