Myitkyina is the capital of Kachin State in the north of Myanmar, located 300kms from the city of Mandalay and 600kms from Yangon.

Situated at the meeting point of two streams and with views of Khakabo Razi, Myanmar’s highest snow-capped mountain, Myitkyina is a pretty place to spend a day or two. Most of the sights can be explored by simply walking around the town, or hire a trishaw and relax as the scenery slips past.

Gold was recently discovered on the banks of the Myit Stone River, drawing people from all over the world to mine for hidden treasures. As a result, a good number of hotels and restaurants have set up business and more attractions are being set up.
