Also known as Bamboo Island, Hon Tre is the largest island off the coast of Nha Trang in Khanh Hoa Province. It has many popular tourist attractions along with several virgin beaches.

First and foremost, Hon Tre is a peaceful island with some good diving and snorkeling in the south and plenty of seemingly unexplored terrain inland. It is just 15 minutes by boat from Cau Da in Nha Trang proper and also now has a cable car to the main beach.

Those looking for a bit of luxury will find the five-star Sofitel Vinpearl Resort and Spa in the north of the island; complete with hundreds of plush rooms. It boasts countless facilities including a landing stage, a golf course and even an amusement park. If that upsets the purist, there is plenty of undeveloped land on Hon Tre to look at.

Getting There & Away

Options for getting to Hon Tre include ferries, tour boats, and the new cable car; the latter of which is scenic and fastest. Boats take just 20 or 30 minutes. The airport in Nha Trang receives flights in under an hour from Ho Chi Minh City, where the closest international airport is.
