Ham Ho nature reserve was established in 1995 and was named a protected area shortly after. It is located 35 miles east of Quy Nhon just off Highway 19 in the equally beautiful country of Vietnam.
The reserve is spotless as there are strict rules in place about littering and the natural beauty is therefore allowed to shine through. The public must abide by many regulations that keep the area enjoyable for all who visit. Numerous exotic trees cultivate around the nature reserve and the best time to visit is when the Loc Vung trees come into flower.
For the adventurous types there is kayaking available down the spring waters where you can watch the fresh fish as they attempt to back up the spring. There are houses on stilts from which you can admire the nature without feeling like you are intruding on their peace.
Getting There & Away
Getting here can be tricky with the most convenient way being to hire a car and drive from Quy Nhon, which is one hour away. Local buses will take you to most places in the region but not directly to Ham Ho. Phu-Cat airport is only 20 minutes away and flies to both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and Danang is home to the nearest international airport. Danang to Quy Nhon is just one hour by air and Hanoi to Quy Nhon is just over one hour.
