Gunung Jerai is the highest mountain in Kedah, Malaysia, and the huge limestone peak plays an important part in the history of the state.

Formally known as Kedah Peak, the mountain stands on its own and is a popular tourist attraction in the area. Due to its height of 3,993 feet, traders used to use Gunung Jerai as a navigational site.

The peak towers on the border of Yan and Kuala Muda districts and at the southern tips of the mountain sits Bujang Valley, the wealthiest archaeological site in the country.

Gunung Jerai recreational park covers the whole mountain area and is Kedah’s main hill resort. Sungai Teroi Forest Recreation Park is home to a wide variety of herbs, flowers and ferns.
