Chrouy Chang Va Island lies just across the Tonle Sap River from Phnom Penh, visible from anywhere along Phnom Penh’s riverfront.

While the island was once home to many riverside communities, particularly ethnic Cham fishing families, the development of Phnom Penh is uprooting these communities.

While the island still features a number of villages, as well as numerous Khmer restaurants, the majority of the island is undergoing development that will eventually feature ‘New Phnom Penh.’
