Cat Ba Town is the main center on Cat Ba Island in Quang Ninh Province, northeastern Vietnam. Tourists come here mainly for the nearby beaches and for the stunning Cat Ba National Park.
Although Cat Ba Town has decent enough facilities, including many hotels and bars, it is not worth coming to Vietnam to solely visit. The real attraction lies inland within Cat Ba National Park. The park has some great scenery and walking, along with endangered animals like the golden-headed Cat Ba langur and the giant squirrel.
Most of the accommodation is in the bustling Cat Ba Town. It’s a bit brash and gets really busy during weekends and holidays in peak season, but can be a bit of fun for a few days.
Getting There & Away
From Hai Phong you need to take two ferries via Cat Hai to get to Cat Ba Island, or come in direct from Ha Long City by passenger ferry farther north. Noi Bai International Airport (outside Hanoi) is the nearest airport; a four-hour journey from Hai Phong and Ha Long City.
