Located up in the Bay of Taytay in the northeast of North Palawan, Calabugdong Island is a nice retreat for those looking for an escape, with its nice resorts and beaches.

Calabugdong Island is a bit on the quiet side, however, and is more difficult to get to than many other Palawan islands. There are several good resorts to bear in mind in the south of the island. Of these, Cicada and Coconut Backpackers Resort are ideal for those on a budget. The island offers all types of sports activities, such as mini golf, mountain biking, climbing, and swimming, and also does full moon party barbecues.

Also worth noting in the region is the Calamian archipelago to the north, which includes the likes of Coron Bay and town, and Apulit Island just to the south. Both of these are superb snorkeling and diving destinations. Taytay Bay on Apulit Island is particularly striking. It has palm trees galore and divine waters.

The main town and entry point for Calabugdong Island is El Nido on the main Palawan Island to the west.

Getting There & Away

There is a small airport near the town of Taytay in North Palawan (Taytay Sandoval Airport), which receives flights from Manila within the hour. Taxis and minivans meet flights and run to a nearby pier from where speedboats run to points all over Calabugdong Island - a 20-minute ride.
