The laid-back town of Zhongwei is located 167kms southwest of Yinchuan, making a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of the city.

At first glance it would seem that there isn’t too much for tourists to do in Zhongwei. However, there are plenty of places to stay and for those who dislike large cities and this makes the city an alternative base to Yinchuan. Nevertheless, few visitors spend more than a few hours in the town.

Luckily, leaving Zhongwei is easy as there is both a large bus and train station located in the town, connecting Zhongwei to many neighboring towns and cities as well as major destinations such as Beijing.

Getting There & Away

Visitors to Zhongwei can fly into the international airport at Yinchuan and then take the train to Zhongwei (3 hours). There are also trains from towns and cities such as Beijing (24 hours), Guyuan (4 hours) and Lanzhou (6 hours).
