Zhenyuan is an ancient town in eastern Guizhou on the Wuyang River, about 300kms east of Guiyang. It is a comparatively large ethnic minority town in the province, yet is compact and easy to get about on foot.

Zhenyuan has plenty of history and also boasts a stunning location on the Wuyang River. There are scores of scenic spots to check out in Zhenyuan, with caves, temples, palaces, and many places along the river, which goes from Huangping to Zhenyuan.

Miao villages are all around town, yet the main appeal is the Wuyang River Scenic Area. The stunning Black Dragon Cave (Qinglong Cave) is one of the main sights on a river cruise.
