Windward Islands Travel Guide

Lying to the north of South America|South America’s Venezuela, the Windward Islands consist of seven independent islands, with Grenada one of the best known. The name of the islands was taken from the fact that the islands lie ‘windward’ to sailing ships.

Dominica, with its unspoiled natural beauty and stunning beaches, is one of the most popular. The volcanic islands of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are well known for their volcanic eruptions as recently as 1979 and are a popular site with those wishing to visit the location of these happenings.
