This temple is situated on top of a steep hill about 3km northwest of the town center. Its main interest lies in the panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, which includes the Mekong River and Laos, as well as the temple’s somewhat crooked, gold-capped chedi that appears to be in danger of falling over.
The chedi is thought to date back to the 16th century and is thought to contain a hair of the Buddha.
Just below Wat Phra That Chom Kitti on the hillside is another temple, Wat Chom Chang, though this one is of no great historical significance.
