‘The temple on little hill’ is aptly named as it sits on a low (300-meter) hill just southwest of Nan town center and (weather permitting) offers sweeping views over the town and Nan valley.

A steep road winds to the summit of the hill, where a fresh breeze often blows causing the temple bells to tinkle.

The temple buildings here are of no great importance, though a stroll around tends to induce a calm mood, as with most Thai temples. The most striking feature is a large, golden, standing Buddha image set on a pedestal on a platform. Facing the town from this high promontory, the image seems to keep its watchful eye on the town.

There’s no public transport to the top of the hill, but it makes an interesting side-trip if you have a rented car or motorbike, or is worth including on a customized day tour of the area.

Sitting 2km southwest of town it is best to get a rented motorbike or car, or go on a local tour.
