Fang is located quite near the Myanmar border, so it’s not surprising that the temples here show a distinct influence of Burmese, and particularly Shan, architecture.

Wat Jong Paen, located just off the town’s main road, is a fine example, with a multi-tiered roof on the viharn that is very photogenic.

Since Fang receives so few foreign visitors, the monks here get quite excited when a foreigner shows interest in their temple, and will probably try to corner you to practice their limited English skills.
