This temple is on the other side of Kwan Phayao, about 20km from the town center on the top of a hill.

It’s tricky to find, but worth a visit if you have your own transport for its striking architecture, unusual gardens and Buddhist sculptures. There are also great views back down over the lake and across to Phayao.

It’s easy to spend an hour or two wandering around the grounds, as there are so many unexpected sights, such as carved archways, rearing nagas and blissful Buddhas. It’s clear that this is an ongoing creative work with new statues and gardens constantly under construction.

Head north out of Phayao along Highway 1 for about 7km, then turn left onto Highway 1127, then left again onto Highway 1193 until you reach the temple.
