In the southern plain region of the Mekong Delta lies the province of Tra Vinh, neighboring the South China Sea. Only 100kms (62 miles) away from Ho Chi Minh City, Tra Vinh is off the tourist trail but has many attractive sites and a special atmosphere.

Tra Vinh city, the capital of the province, is a pretty spot filled with colonial buildings, as demonstrated by the nearby Ba Dong beach and its French-built resort. Its friendly atmosphere is easily witnessed at the colorful and lively market. The Ang pagoda is also a delightful place. Attractions outside the provincial capital include Ba Om lake (also known as Ao Vuong), My Long beach and Co pagoda.

Not far from Ho Chi Minh City, Tra Vinh is accessed by bus and water transportation, and is much appreciated by the off-the-beaten-track travelers.
