Tham Phah Tup Forest Reserve is located within a small park where there are a number of caves in the limestone hills.

Many of them are adorned with Buddha images although the trails to each cave are not well marked and a bit of a pain to find, as is the cave complex itself.

The area is a bit of a ramble and you may find it more enjoyable walking around the forest reserve than exploring the caves themselves. When you have done the caves, if you can find them, keep your eyes open for birds and butterflies along the track and just up from the office.

Take a songthaew from Nan (20 minutes) to the park entrance. Nan has bus links with Chiang Mai (5 hours) as well as flights to Bangkok.
