The picturesque region of Tetebatu in Central Lombok is set in the highlands and accommodation in the area, as well as the views and scenery, is some of the best around.
Tetebatu is located on the south slope of the large mountain, Gunung Rinjani, and sits 400m above sea level. The pretty village attracts many visitors thanks to its situation in a national park and is often used as somewhere to stay for keen hikers looking to tackle the peak.
There are a few restraints to enjoy and a handful of places to stay but no money changers or ATMs so make sure you have enough cash to get you through. The village is often cool, with nice breezes rolling off the mountain. Rice and tobacco are farmed locally so there are many fields and open areas to hike through not far from the village.
Travel to Tetebatu- getting there
Lombok is becoming more popular but has yet to reach the stature of neighboring Bali. Flights from Bali only take 25 minutes and from Jakarta, host to the country’s main international airport, they take 2 hours. Boats arrive daily from Bali and ferries take from 3 to 5 hours while catamarans only take about 1 hour.
