Situated on the southern part of the island of Nias in Sumatra, Teluk Dalam consists of 39 traditional villages, each one with their own unique style and cultural heritage.

Exploring Teluk Dalam is a rewarding experience as there are a number of natural beauty sports here such as the beach of Pantai Sorake, which receives keen surfers from all around the globe. This is also a good area for those who enjoy snorkeling and swimming, while beach volleyball is popular here.

Of course, this tropical beach area is ideal for doing as little as possible, with many people content to simply lounge around on the beach. However, those who are interested in exploring can spend several days looking around the dozens of pretty villages scattered around the area. Simply hire a bicycle and use peddle power to see the sights at your leisure.

Getting There & Away

There are regular connecting flights from the international airport at Medan to Binaka Airport on Nias Island (1 hour). There are buses and other transport to take tourists from Bainaka to Teluk Dalam (4 hours). It is also possible to sail from the port of Silbolga to Gunung Sitoli (12 hours).
