Tanjung Lesung is a stunning beach just up from Carita Beach in Banten, West Java. It features lovely white sands, blue waters and a staggering amount of greenery behind.
Tanjung Lesung Beach actually stretches north to south for about 15kms and is especially good for water sports in this respect. Fishing is also a favorite pastime at Tanjung Lesung, along with boat trips out to Krakatau, 50kms offshore. In addition, the underwater scenery off Tanjung Lesung makes it popular with snorkelers and divers.
The beach is just up from Tanjung Jaya Village where there is a market that has hawkers selling all kinds of local wares. Rhinoceros statues are the main souvenir item at the market, along with all sorts of weird and wonderful seashell objects.
Nearby Cipanon Village is worth a visit for those interested in seeing fishermen at work and is where you can take tours out to Liwangan Island by speedboat in 35 minutes.
