Located in the east of Kalinga Province in Luzon, Tabuk is the capital city of the province and is home to spectacular natural surroundings and has a rich history of tribal warfare dating back centuries.
Tabuk nowadays is a center for commerce and trade with local farmers from the surrounding region using the city to sell their produce, which is mainly rice. The city is also home to an array of restaurants and food stalls mainly selling local food although some international flavors can be found. There are shops and several outdoor markets providing great local handmade souvenirs.
Just outside of the city are beautiful rolling hills and steep mountains, which can be explored by foot. There are many guided tours available, some which include rock climbing and more challenging treks. The city museum has an interesting collection of traditional pieces including tribal clothing, weapons and exhibits of the farming culture.
Getting There & Away
The easiest and most common way to get to Tabuk is by air to Tuguegarao Airport, which is about an hour’s drive by bus or jeepney from Tabuk. The flight takes approximately 1 hour. It is possible to take a bus from Manila but the 480km journey takes 10 hours. Buses and jeepneys also travel from both Baguio and Bontoc.
