The quiet unremarkable town of Tabuelan lies on the northwest coast of Cebu Island. It’s an ideal hideaway for serious isolationists and beach bums, but don’t expect much in the way of entertainment or amenities.
The town of Tabuelan has a reputation for offering little in the way of surface beauty, but its beaches make up for what the town lacks. If you can get past the roadside vendor stalls selling underwear and general lack of scenery you can find a decent selection of places to eat in town that sell fresh seafood at ridiculous prices.
Accommodation is best pursued along the beach, where several nice mid-range resorts offer quiet rooms that are great value. The sand is white and soft and the waters calm enough for swimming. Some of the resorts offer water sports options to add some activity to your beach lounging.
Getting There & Away
International travelers will need to fly into Mactan-Cebu International Airport to start off their journey to Tabuelan. The flight from Manila is just an hour. From the airport you can hire a private taxi to cover the 2 to 3-hour drive. Otherwise there are cheaper options if you make your way to Cebu City’s North Bus Terminal. Minivans depart from this terminal every hour for just a few dollars all the way to Tabuelan.
