In the Philippines‘ South Cotabato Province, Surallah is gateway to the premier provincial attraction, Lake Sebu. It isn’t a destination in its own right, but serves as a convenient traveler depot.
Surallah is situated between General Santos and Cotabato City near the turnoff for Lake Sebu. The name Surallah translates as ‘Valley of Allah’, and this entire area is a fertile basin known for rice production. A drive through this hillside area reveals rice fields and quiet countryside.
Lake Sebu sits 3,000 feet above sea level and hosts several resorts that offer leisurely boating tours of the lake. The T’boli ethnic tribe is a major theme of any visit to Lake Sebu as they have lived here for centuries. Local festivals celebrate their heritage.
