Sokha Beach is long beach with powdery white sand and shallow water, ideal for swimming.
Most of the beach is occupied by Cambodia’s first modern five-star beach hotel, the Sokha Beach Resort; however there is a public beach park with a small sliver of sand that is a nice place to sunbathe and an adequate place to swim at the southeast end of the beach near the path that follows the rocky coast around to Serendipity/Ochheuteal Beach.
A better option for swimming is the northwest end of the beach, within the resort grounds. The beach here is open to the public and has toilets with showers for non-guests and beach chairs for a dollar. Bring a picnic to the beach or eat at Sokha Resort’s seafood restaurant, Lemongrass, which has outdoor dining. Whichever you choose, both ends of Sokha Beach are tree-lined stretches of soft silvery-white sand with gentle waters, worthy of visiting even if you aren’t a hotel guest.
Getting There
Sokha Beach is located SW of Sihanoukville town and NW of Ochheuteal Beach, a five minute tuk tuk or motorbike ride from either. Sokha will be accessible by foot from northern Serendipity/Occheuteal Beach upon completion of the walking path and is also easily visited on a bicycle as the hills along this portion of the coast are relatively mild. Sihanoukville is located 3-5 hours from Phnom Penh by taxi or bus and 3-4 hours from Koh Kong.
