The capital town of Siquijor Island is known by the same name and like the island, it is cloaked in mystery due to the local practices of magic.
The town is quiet and undemanding, and the most strenuous part of a day in the town is walking to the beach for a leisurely swim. The only noise to be heard is often the waves crashing on the beach and it is common to catch a nice breeze from the shoreline.
The beach and town hold a mystical feel and many Filipinos, who are deeply superstitious, refuse to stay on the island through fear of sorcerers and witches. The gentle surroundings mixed with the intrigue of magic will appeal to those with a dark side.
There is a nature allure about the town and even if you are not a fan of the local Harry Potters, there is still plenty to enjoy. Away from the witchcraft, there is stunning scenery to explore, with caves, bays, hills and undisturbed forests and mangroves that have barely been visited.
