Sleepy Sayan is situated in the Petauan River Valley, just a short bus ride from the vibrant city of Denpasar, making this a good destination for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a while.
Trekking through the jungle is one of the main activities here, and there are several well-marked trails. A good way to pass a few hours is to hire a guide and embark on a tour of the jungle, perhaps calling in at some of the area’s pretty caves and temples and pausing for a bite to eat besides a jungle waterfall.
Sayan is located close to both the city of Denpasar and Ubud, making this a good place to visit on a day trip. Buses run regularly between the two cities, calling in at Sayan on their way past. Stop for an hour or two to see the sights and perhaps have lunch before climbing back into the bus and rattling down the long, dusty road.
Getting There
The easiest way to get to Sayan is from the city of Denpasar, via the large Ngurah Rai International Airport. Sayan is just a 2-hour drive from there, and the most convenient way is by taxi straight from the airport. Buses also travel directly to Sanyan from Denpasar as well as surrounding towns and cities such as Pejeng and Ubud.
