Rongjiang is a county in the southeast of Guizhou Province. It is one of the most popular ethnic minority regions in the province and is fairly straightforward to get to by way of Jialixiang.

Rongjiang is 300kms from Guiyang, the provincial capital. It is home to over a quarter of a million people, most of which are Dong. A combination bus and minibus from Kaili is the best way in.

There are many Dong villages in and around Rongjiang, where traditional housing has been built up on hillsides. Rongjiang also comes with a decent number of foreigner facilities, including guesthouses, shops, and restaurants.

Getting There & Away

Rongjiang is best accessed on the Guizhou side from Kaili on the S203. It is 6 hours, 30 minutes from Kaili. Guiyang Airport is 300kms to the northwest via the G321. Flights come in from Beijing and Shanghai.
