Rayong is a small coastal province located on central Thailand’s Gulf coast. The north of the province consists mainly of hills that descend into the low lying coastal plains of the south. While the mainland area of Rayong has little to attract tourists, the province includes the popular tourist islands of Koh Samet, Koh Mun and Koh Kodi.
Transit to the province’s islands can be achieved via ferry from the ferry stations on the coast of Rayong, the provincial capital. Rayong town has little to offer tourists, but if you arrive to find you’ve missed the ferry, there are a number of basic guest houses in the area.
