Ranong is a small southern province that is located on the Kra Isthmus, a narrow stretch of land that connects the Thai mainland with the Malay Peninsula. The southern parts of the province’s western side borders with Myanmar, while in the north there is a long Andaman coast.
While Ranong is a small province, there are many appealing tourist attractions, including the Ranong Biosphere Reserve and the Khlong Nakha Wildlife Sanctuary. Ranong, the provincial capital, also acts as a travel hub for those heading to the islands off the province’s west coast. The town provides many guest houses and hotels aimed mainly at tourist traffic.
