Set amid stunning scenery and more opportunities to indulge in extreme sports than you can shake a stick at, the resort town of Queenstown offers much to thrill fun-seeking travelers. In summer, bungy-jumping, jet boats, parasailing, mountaineering, rafting, helicopter flights, fishing, hiking and cycling are just some of the things on offer in the surrounding area. In winter, the skiing and snowboarding at the four resorts is brilliant.
The superbly named The Remarkables is a mountain range located opposite the town. You will agree with the apt name of the rage on first sight. The center of Queenstown is very touristy, not very classy and pretty expensive, meaning you may wish to make a short rather than long trip to this scenic Kiwi corner.
