Pyinmana lies roughly mid station between Yangon and Mandalay. There’s not much to see in the village itself, but the new Myanmar capital of Naypyidaw is close by.
The junta revoked Yangon’s capital city status in favor of the newly built Naypyidaw, or NPT, in 2005 as a result of the area’s more intimate locale. Naypyidaw is just a few kilometers west of Pyinmana.
The Burma Independence Army were once based in Pyinmana; a logging town with little in the way of tourist attractions. There are, however, three massive sculptures of Burmese kings, Alaungpaya U Aung Zeya, Anawrahta, and Bayinnaung, plus the nearby village of Yezin has many national scientific research institutes.
