High on the hilltop is a pavilion where visitors can enjoy the beautiful blend of mountain and sea. The temple was built by a holy priest who was the first to bring Hindu Dharma to Bali.

Ponjok Batu is derived from the word ‘ponjok’ which means small projection and ‘batu’ means stones. In front of the temple sits an edifice of a ship, built on a rock, just below the temple

Locals believe the stone attracted sailors due to its golden glow. The sailors tried to get closer thinking it was gold, but their ship hit rocks and sank. The priest who was meditating nearby invited the sailors to meditate through the night, and the next morning the sailors left on a miraculously repaired ship. Even nowadays people still say they see the glowing light near the temple.
