Near the southern border of the Zambales Coast, Pundaquit is a quiet Filipino fishing village with inexpensive accommodation and a few seafood restaurants that enjoy great sunsets.
Pundaquit is only a few miles from San Antonio, a larger town that garners a greater share of tourists. As a result, Pundaquit stays quiet and relaxed throughout the year. Most visitors are on a daytrip to the Capones Islands and stop here to charter a banca for the journey. It takes about 45 minutes to reach the islands.
This part of the Zambales Coast has plenty of culture, with rich threads of colonial and indigenous history. Most colonial structures, including the Cathedral of St William, are in San Fernando, but the Pindangan Ruins are found in the countryside. The latter was a fort from the 1700s.
Getting There & Away
The closest big city is Manila, with its international airport where most international tourists first set foot. San Antonio is about 2 hours, 30 minutes from Manila and can be conveniently reached by bus or hire car. From the plaza in San Fernando you can reach Pundaquit by jeepney in just a few minutes.
