Pulau Dua Bird Sanctuary lies just off the coast in Banten Province, West Java, and is one for the bird lover. Literally thousands of migrating birds arrive here between March and July.
Birds are the main attraction in Pulau Dua Bird Sanctuary but if you find yourself here out of the migration season, the abundance of tropical plants will somewhat make up for it. Virtually every species of plant in Indonesia can be seen in the Pulau Dua Bird Sanctuary, along with ancient trees.
There are also several offshore volcanoes to gawp at along with the many attractions of the nearby ancient town of Old Banten. Of these sights, be sure to visit the Grand Mosque and Surosowan Royal Palace. Serang is also worth seeing and if you are into beaches, Anyer Beach and Carita Beach are not far down the coast. The famous Karang Bolong hole in the wall lies between the two beaches.
