The attractive town of Puerto Galera is the gateway to White Beach, a popular draw on Mindoro Oriental that is not to be confused with its counterpart in Boracay.

Accommodation at the beach is available to suit most budgets but make sure you bargain hard if you turn up without a booking and expect to pay more to stay right on the beach. Facilities at the beach are limited so you also need to stock up on cash before arriving.

Swimming, snorkeling and beach lounging are the main pastimes at this resort but exercise caution is you are not a strong swimmer as the beach is very steep. Boat trips to the nearest snorkeling sites are readily available.

Dining out at the resorts here will see you served with fresh seafood that can be cooked to order. Although White Beach attracts a young crowd, most people sleep early after having watched the sunset over a cocktail or two at one of the small beach bars so don’t come expecting beach parties.

Getting There & Away

The easiest way to get to White Beach is via bus and then ferry from Manila, which is host to the country’s main international airport. From Manila buses run to Batangas (3 hours) where there is a port that has connections to Puerto Galera (3 hours). From here it is just a short boat ride to White Beach.
