Phu Quoc Island lies on the Gulf of Thailand, off the coast of southern Vietnam. It is one of the main attractions in this region boasting beautiful beaches and a laid back feel.
This 48-kilometer long island is dotted with hills and forests, houses a handful of small towns and countless beaches. It is largely undeveloped, despite having an airport, which is the main appeal of the island for the more discerning type.
Bai Truong (Long Beach) is Phu Quoc Island’s main and longest beach. It stretches for several kilometers down the west side and is all but deserted. There is also a small archipelago off the south coast which is good for snorkeling and diving, while hiring a motorbike and riding around the island is also lots of fun.
Other attractions on the island include the fish sauce factories in Duong Dong town and Suoi Tranh waterfall, to the southeast of town.
