Phongsali is one of the remotest provinces of Laos, located in the mountains of the north. Situated in between Dien Bien, Vietnam and Yunnan, China, this province was created in 2004 after a split with Lai Chau province.
The gorgeous Nam Ou river runs through Phongsali and visitors may get a stunning glimpse of it at the Mouang Khoa river port. The Phoudandine and Phongsali towns are also popular places of interests for most tourists.
Several of the small villages and towns have quaint guest houses and hotels suitable for all types of travelers, such as the Phongsali Hotel and the Viphaphone Hotel, which are both in the center of town.
