Phnom Sombok rests atop the Phnom hills overlooking the Mekong river capturing beautiful vista of the vast countryside.

Several wats line the top and are adorned with beautiful mural paintings of Buddhist stories and traditions. There is a monastary connected to the temple and locals use it regularly.

Apart from the natural beauty which can be found in Kratie, Phnom Sombok is one of the most enchanting manmade places in the province. Guides can be arranged to help explain the significance of the architecture and bright paintings.

It is recommended that you visit just before sunset to experience the serenity of the temple and quietly contemplate the world below.

Phnom Sombok is located a few minutes north of Kratie, just south of the dolphin pools at Kampee. It is easily reached by bicycle, moto, or tuk tuk.
