Located along the banks of Songkhla lake in a mountainous area 530 miles from the capital of Krung Thep, along the Trang-Songkhla highway, Phatthalung province is known as the home of Hollow Hill, or Khao Ok Thalu in Thai.
East of the railway station in Phatthalung town, visitors can climb the 250-foot hill whose summit is a hole through to the other side. The odd, natural formation has become the symbol of Phatthalung.
