Nestled on the southwest coast of Thailand on the emerald waters of the Andaman Sea, Phang-Nga Province is home to some of the most spectacular scenery in all of Southeast Asia.
Around 800kms south of Bangkok, Phang-Nga town, the administrative capital of the province, is a small place that offers access to the amazing natural wonders of the region.
The main attractions in Phang-Nga town are Khao Chang, the town’s guardian mountain in the shape of a kneeling elephant, and the waterfall at Sa Nang Manora. Also worth a look are the caves at Phung Chang and Kao Ngum.
Getting to Phang-Nga is a simple process, and visitors can either travel by road or air. By car or bus the journey takes around 12 hours traveling south along National Highway 4, but by air it is a 1-hour flight from Bangkok to Phuket followed by around a 1-hour drive north to Phang-Nga itself.
Getting There & Away
Phang-Nga is best reached by air, with passengers flying from Bangkok to Phuket connecting to Phang-Nga Province by road. The town itself is around a 1-hour drive from Phuket Airport and visitors can travel either by hire car, private limousine or public bus. Driving to Phang-Nga from Bangkok is a lengthy 12-hour journey.
