Laid-back, quiet and stuck on the western coast of Australia all on its own, Perth is miles away from anywhere else so don’t get lost on the way. Nice beaches, a pleasant harbor, a couple of big public parks and great shopping all vie for your attention, but this is definitely a place just to let things happen. The pace of life is pretty slow, complemented by the coffee culture.

The nightlife isn’t too exciting, with plenty of pubs but nothing which stands out as special. There are some nice restaurants, most of which close at 22:00 so don’t expect to head out at midnight, Madrid-style. The nearby town of Fremantle is a good option for an alternative night out; just don’t miss the last train home.
